NO MENTOR LUIS: Luis Manzano may appear the busiest most in demand TV host on ABS-CBN, yet the versatile actor claims he’s in no position to train young hopefuls to become good hosts.
‘I don’t feel I am equipped with the right skills to train people in hosting,’ he said.
There are many other areas of work that he feels he is lacking. ‘I am not a good actor. I can act, yes, but that’s about it.’
Asked why he sticks to hosting, Luis said: ‘I stick to my strength.’

NO TO BEAUTY PAGEANTS: Why doesn’t he host beauty pageants despite countless offers to do so? ‘I’m not for it. My humor might not work well with that kind of show. My jokes may be found inappropriate. The next day, I will be bashed entirely. I don’t like that, so I avoid beauty contests.’
About the women closest to his heart at present: There are constant women in my life, led by my mother, Rep. Vilma Santos-Recto.’

MINUTE TO WIN IT IS BACK: Luis faced the media on the eve of the nationwide launch of his new game show, “Minute to Win It.”
The program will be back starting on Monday (July 18).
The show has a “Last Man Standing,” where the fittest survives and gets the biggest cash prize.
On Mondays and Wednesdays, seven players – different celebrities and personalities from different fields and even ordinary Kapamilya Players – will clash in a series of five challenges.
The player who finishes last will be eliminated, until only two players remain.
These players will go straight to the Head-to-Head Challenge on Tuesdays and Thursdays, where they will again battle it out in five nerve-wracking challenges.
The player who gets the bigger amount of cash will play the Ultimate Challenge, where he or she will be given the chance to win the P1 million-jackpot prize.
The player who emerges victorious will be named the “Ultimate Last Man Standing.”
In a single week, one lucky player can get as much as P2 million.
Playing in the show’s pilot episode on July 18 and 19 are Richard Yap, Jericho Rosales, Maja Salvador, Coleen Garcia, Melai Cantiveros, Eric Nicolas, and Kapamilya player Marjan Nassiri.
Bringing in the thrills on July 20 and 21 are Arci Muñoz, Daniel Matsunaga, Joey Marquez, Denise Laurel, Baron Geisler, Negi, at Rachel Daquis.
The exciting game show first aired on ABS-CBN in 2013.
Meanwhile, ordinary viewers have the chance to play in the game show. It is open to male and female players, 20 to 50 years old. (NESTOR CUARTERO)
