Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Ismael D. Sueno said yesterday that they have gathered evidence that will enable them to file criminal charges against two Philippine National Police generals allegedly involved in illegal drugs.
In a press briefing at the PNP headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City, Sueno said there is “prima facie” evidence for the two police generals to stand trial in court.
“Well, kay General Garbo is out of the service so bahala na iyung korte. Ang tatlong generals na still on duty ready na kami sa dalawa,” Sueno told reporters.
“Kasi iyung dalawa nandito sa NCR so nakakuha na tayo ng mga ebidensya pero doon sa isa dahil outside of Metro Manila. So ang latest na sumbong sa akin they are now gathering and definitely we will come up evidences against itong sa tatlo.”
“Iyung may prima facie evidence na pwede na try… pwede na start ang trial,” he added.
Sueno refused to identify the two generals but confirmed that they are both based in the National Capital Region.
“Hindi na lang muna natin papangalanan,” he said.
Sueno said they expect to finish their investigation and gathering of evidence by next week.
“Maybe next week. Iyung isa fina-finalize pa namin. Maybe it will take us mga seven to 10 days pero nandun na,” he said. (Francis T. Wakefield)
