ACTRESS Toni Gonzaga-Soriano and husband director Paul Soriano celebrated a baby shower with their family and close friends recently.
Toni, 32, is scheduled to give birth to a baby boy sometime in September or October.
Spotted at the nautical-themed event sponsored by Starstudio Magazine of ABS-CBN were showbiz friends Julia Barretto, Jolina Magda-ngal, Sarah Lahbati, Beauty Gonzales, Iza Calzado, Mariel Rodriguez-Padilla, Martin Nievera, among others.
Parents of the couple were excited for their first grandson.
“Of course, very excited since day one na nalaman naming buntis s’ya. First apo on our side and their side. Magkaka-boy na kami, said Crisanta Gonzales, mother of Toni, during an interview on “Tonight with Boy Abunda” on ABS-CBN. She was accompanied by husband Carlito.
“It’s exciting but tiring. But it’s a good tiring. I told her right now before she delivers the baby to get lots of sleep and eat a lot,” said Marissa Soriano, mother of Paul.
“I don’t wanna be called lolo Jeric. How about calling me nalang J-Lo. How about that?” said director and pastor Jeric Soriano, son of actor Nestor de Villa.
“And I’m a glam-a,” added Marissa.
Alex Gonzaga, younger sister of Toni, said that she feels part of her sister’s pregrancy.
“Parang pakiramdam ko isa na rin ako sa nagbubuntis dahil madalas kaming naguusap ni ate kapag me-ron s’yang craving tapos nasa work si Paul,” said Alex.
The celebrity couple also said that the nursery room for their baby is almost finished.
“Yes! It’s all coming together,” said Toni, who announced her pregnancy on “ASAP” variety show in April.
“Slowly but surely and we’re thankful also para sa maraming gifts” Paul added.
Paul also said that he and his wife have cut down on work load to prepare for the coming of their first baby.
“I did especially in the next nine months. I need to be there for her. But of course we’re still working, making sure that we’re saving for the baby for the next few months. My priority right now is to make sure that she’s okay,” he added.
Paul also said that he is dealing with the different emotions of his wife.
“Lahat ng emotions meron s’ya – masungit, masaya, pagod, galit. Na-experience ko lahat yan,” he laughed.
“Kahapon ang bait nya, ang sungit ko. Sa kotse pa lang inaway ko na s’ya pero sinabi n’ya, ‘I will not fight you,’ “ said Toni.
“I know Toni’s going to be a good mother dahil mula noon hanggang ngayon, nasa sentro pa rin ng kanilang buhay ang relasyon nila sa Panginoong Diyos,” said Abunda.
