Far Eastern University tries to forge a three-way logjam on top of its bracket when it tangles with winless San Beda today in the Shakey’s V-League Season 13 Collegiate Conference at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
Game time is at 4 p.m. with the Lady Tams seeking a followup of their 25-16, 25-18, 25-18 opening triumph over the College of St. Benilde Lady Blazers.
Technological Institute of the Philippines, meanwhile, collides with University of Perpetual Help at 6 p.m. in a bid to recover from a 25-17, 25-17, 25-18 loss to National University the other day.
A victory for the Lady Tams would tie them with the second-running San Sebastian Lady Stags at 2-1 in Group A.
But focus will be on FEU, whose victory would tie it with University of the Philippines and University of Santo Tomas at 2-0.
A mixture of veteran and rising players, the Lady Tams are set to display their fierce defense anew with Heather Guino-o and Jerrili Malabanan manning the net after leading the crew’s 10 team blocks the last time.
The trio of Remy Palma, Bernadeth Pons and Toni Rose Basas are also expected to sizzle anew with their powerful smashes after conspiring for 31 points the last time.
But San Beda hopes to rise from a two-game slip that put it near the cellar to keep its chances alive.
Guest player Janine Marciano will spearhead the Lady Red Spikers after scoring 18 points in their 27-25, 25-18, 20-25, 25-18 defeat over UST last week, but she needs more support from her teammates to beat a strong team like FEU.
In the Spikers’ Turf, FEU (0-1) and College of St. Benilde (0-1) collide at 10 a.m., while San Beda (0-1) and UST (1-0) clash at 12 noon.
