The cyclone pulling the monsoon winds towards the landmass of Luzon and Visayas has moved farther away from the Philippines but the country will continue to get some amount of monsoon rain today.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the southwest monsoon or “habagat” will continue to affect Luzon and will bring occasionally heavy rains over Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Benguet, Zambales and Bataan.
It warned residents in these areas of possible floods and landslides as the ground is already saturated by continuous rains in the last couple of days.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rains with isolated thunderstorms is expected over Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Aurora, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac, Abra, Apayao, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mt. Province, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque and Romblon.
PAGASA said cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms is expected over the rest of Luzon and Visayas, while cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will be experienced over Mindanao. (Ellalyn B. de Vera)
