A new low pressure area (LPA) off the Pacific Ocean will further enhance the southwest monsoon or “hanging habagat” that may induce more rains and trigger landslides and floods over parts of the country.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) located the LPA at 800 kilometers (km) east of Baler, Aurora at around 4 a.m. Tuesday.
It said monsoon rains will be experienced over Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Benguet, Zambales and Bataan, while cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms is expected over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will be experienced over the rest of the country. (Lai de Vera)
