Amid the raging debate over the planned burial of former President Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani, Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada has called on everyone to “respect the dead” and focus instead on bigger issues in the country.
Estrada said the issue should not be something to be quarreled about amid the many problems besetting the country as he stressed that the hero’s burial for the late dictator has been decided and must be respected.
Estrada made his comment amidst the growing protests over President Duterte’s pronouncements to allow Marcos’ burial at the heroes’ cemetery.
“We are all Christians. We have to move on. Let’s devote more time on the problems of the country. Move on. Let go anything of the past,” Estrada added.
Estrada also said he sees no problem with the holding of protest rallies in Manila as long as it is peaceful and the protesters have the appropriate permits. (Betheena Kae Unite)
