Far Eastern U tries to remain keep its win-loss record perfect as it tangles with reigning titlist National University today in the quarterfinals of the Shakey’s V-League Season 13 Collegiate Conference at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
The Lady Tams aim to hike their 2-0 tally in their 6 p.m. confrontation with the Lady Bulldogs.
All six teams are carrying over their preliminary records provided that they will not compete against the same squads they had faced in the first round. All their matches against eliminated teams were disregarded.
With this, FEU remains the frontrunner in the race for the two championship berths, followed by NU with 2-1. Ateneo, San Sebastian, University of the Philippines at 1-1 and University of Santo Tomas at 0-3.
The Lady Tams remain unbeaten since the start of the prelims, having beaten UP, UST, San Beda and College of St. Benilde in their bracket.
But with the competition getting more intense, expect FEU to go all out with Toni Rose Basas, Remy Palma and Bernadeth Pons forming the core of the squad.
The terrific trio combined for 49 points in their 27-25, 25-22, 18-25, 23-25, 15-8 victory against UP in their previous match four days back.
But NU, which is coming off a tough 25-21, 29-27, 25-13 triumph over UST last Monday, is parading its own go-to players in Jaja Santiago, Aiko Urdas and Jorelle Singh to match FEU’s prowess.
Meanwhile, UST tries to bounce back from its loss as it takes on San Sebastian at 4 p.m.
In the Spikers’ Turf prelims, La Salle (2-1) collides with Philippine Merchant Marine School (0-3) at 10 a.m., while National College of Business and Arts (0-3) tangles with Emilio Aguinaldo College (0-3) at 12 noon.
