For any mobile user, the more specs and features would be a dream. But of course, that would mean a high price to pay. Thankfully there are some homogenized smartphones that can pack it all in and the OnePlus 3 is a testament to that.
Aesthetically Pleasing
The recently launched flagship is something any mobile user will immediately fall in love with. OnePlus has departed from the usual design and come up with a sleek full metal unibody (anodized aluminum) that shelves the previous plastic or glass finishes predecessors carry.
Aesthetically, the OnePlus 3 is pretty light to the hand. It weighs only 158 grams and offers dimensions of 152.7 x 74.7 x 7.35 mm.
Up front, it boasts of a 5.5-inch 1080p Full HD (1920x1080p pixel) display that still stands out despite the fact that others have already transitioned to Quad HD displays. Either way, the resolution it carries should be sane enough to accommodate all media requirements ranging from games, videos, and photos.
The Powers From Within
Inside, the OnePlus 3 does not disappoint in power. It comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 Quad Core, Kryo (2 x 2.2 GHz and 2 x 1.6 GHz), an Adreno 530 GPU and 6 GB of LPDDR4 RAM.
It does come up a bit short on the storage concerns with only 64 GB of internal storage with no provisions for expansion. But then again, that would depend on the user and the fact that this is still a smartphone and not a camera or camcorder.
The OnePlus 3 is not short on sensors and advanced security. It comes with its own Fingerprint sensor, a Hall sensor, Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensors and an electric compass.
Rounding up the specs are the USB 2.0, Type-C port, 3.5 mm jack and a 3,000 mAh non-removable battery. The OnePlus 3 is dual-SIM ready, meaning it can accommodate up to two nano-SIM slots. It runs on the company’s Oxygen OS, the latest version of which is based on Android Marshmallow.
The Main and Front Cameras
As with most phones, we go down to the camera. The OnePlus 3 features an impressive 16 MP main camera and an 8 MP front-facing shooter.
The main camera is aided by f/2.0 aperture, Optimal Image Stabilization feature, a Sony IMX 298 sensor and phase detection autofocus that allows it to take high-quality images. Aside from photos, the OnePlus 3’s main camera can capture 4K videos at 30 fps which should come in handy for the ones who want to capture special events and moments.
The front camera does not disappoint either. It also has the same f/2.0 aperture, fixed focus and capture videos at 1080p (30 fps).
From the long list of features alone, the OnePlus 3 doesn’t disappoint. But the best part of it is that the suggested retail price in the market is not even close to usual pricing for flagship phones but in fact something that sums up to the mid-range niche.
