(Philsports Arena, Pasig City)
10 a.m. – Ateneo vs La Salle (men’s)
12 noon – NU vs UST (men’s)
National U seeks to clinch other slot.
Reigning champion Ateneo and National University aim to arrange a championship matchup today when they collide with separate opponents in Game 2 of the semifinals of the Spiker’s Turf Season 2 Collegiate Conference at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
The Eagles take on bitter rival La Salle Green Spikers at 10 a.m., while the Bulldogs square off with the University of Santo Tomas Tigers at 12 noon.
Both Ateneo and NU are gunning for a sweep of their respective best-of-three semis following contrasting victories in Game 1 last Saturday.
The Eagles survived the resilient Green Spikers, 25-16, 17-25, 25-23, 26-28, 15-7, while the Bulldogs swept the Tigers in three tough sets, 25-21, 25-21, 25-23.
A victory for both Ateneo and NU would also forge a repeat finals from last year where the Eagles swept their best-of-three affair.
Ateneo coach Oliver Almadro is focused on beating La Salle first before eyeing the ultimate prize.
“La Salle is a very dangerous team. We shouldn’t relax in this game even if we have the advantage after winning Game 1,” said Almadro.
Almadro relies anew on their strong offensive game after Marck Espejo and Tony Koyfman sizzled with combined 45 points the last time.
NU, which is aching to surpass its previous finish, seeks to dominate UST again with Fauzi Ismail and Madzlan Gampong leading their attack.
