With Earl Scottie Thompson already in the pros, Perpetual Help’s first order of things was to find a true leader.
Enter Gab Dagangon.
Dagangon has assumed the leadership role after Thompson left and, recently, dropped a 22-point, nine-rebound and two-block performance to help Perpetual Help down Arellano U, 76-62, in the 92nd NCAA basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City.
For his effort, Dagangon bagged his first ACCEL Quantum/3XVI-NCAA Press Corps Player of the Week award.
“I just want to help the team and try to set a good example especially to the younger players,” said Dagangon in Filipino.
Next to Nigerian teammate Bright Akhuetie, Dagangon has been the second most consistent player in the Las Pinas-based team’s fold as he has been averaging 14 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists and a block a game.
He could step up big too if necessary as seen in the huge win over the Chiefs.
