Television host-actress Kris Aquino is now a certified “Kapuso.”
On Instagram, Aquino bid her ABS-CBN family goodbye when she signed up with Tony Tuviera’s APT Productions.
Tuviera is also president of TAPE, Inc., producer of the longest-running noontime program “Eat Bulaga” on GMA 7.
The group also manages the careers of Marian Rivera and Maine Mendoza.
“So here’s a shoutout of THANK YOU to the Kapamilya Network ABS-CBN for all that was, and here’s a shoutout of THANK YOU to my new APT family for all that will be. And most of all my THANK YOU to all of you for allowing me to just be me. ❤️,” said Aquino on a caption for meme.
It carried a text which read: “Goodbyes are not forever, are not the end; it simply means I’ll miss you, until we meet again.”
Aquino, 45, has been a contract star of ABS-CBN for almost 20 years.
In February, she was set to renew her contract with ABS-CBN but “there was a threat to my life.”
Aquino chose to take a break with sons Joshua and Bimby to Hawaii twice and focused on health.
“That is the risk of taking time for yourself- when you come back there’s no guarantee that a space will be held for you. We spoke in July but there was no definite show & no assured time frame of my return on air. I perfectly understood- as much as I wanted to believe I was a pillar of the network, everybody is dispensable,” said Aquino.
Aquino appeared on Kapamilya shows such as “Kris,” “Today With Kris Aquino”, “The Buzz,” “Game KNB” and blockbuster films such as “Feng Shui,” Sisterakas,” and “Sukob.”
Aquino said that she left ABS-CBN with no bitterness but just “honesty” and “gratitude in my heart”.
Her manager TV host Boy Abunda “reached out” to Tuviera on her behalf, Aquino said.
Aquino has said that a digital collaboration was initially planned with APT.
“But maybe my guardian angel in heaven (could it have been you, Mom?) was working overtime and what was an attempt at something new & experimental, evolved into a vision & a presentation that felt perfect for who I am now & for our TV collaboration,” she said.
Aquino has previously worked with APT for the 2014 Metro Manila Film Festival entry “My Little Bossings” with two other film outfits.
Aquino also recalled that in 1986, Tuviera spoke to her late President Corazon C. Aquino to produce a show for her when she was 15 years old. The project did not push through.
Aquino and her children left for vacation abroad.
