ZAMBOANGA CITY – Two members of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) were killed and two others were wounded, including
a soldier following a clash between government troops and the group of ASG leader Alhabsy Misaya yesterday in Panamao, Sulu.
Armed Forces-Western Mindanao Command (WestMinCom) spokesman Maj. Filemon I Tan, Jr., said soldiers from the 35th Infantry Battalion mounted an offensive against Misaya’s group around 7:20 a.m. in the village of Pugad Manaul in Panamao.
Tan identified one of the ASG casualties as a certain Daris.
The wounded soldier was brought to a military hospital in Jolo, Sulu.
Government troopers, assisted by the Air Force, are in hot pursuit of the bandits and their leader.
On Tuesday, notorious kidnappers Nixon Muktadil and Brown Muktadil operating under Alhabsy Misaya were killed by soldiers of Joint Task Force Sulu during an operation in Daungdung, Pata, Sulu.
The death of the Muktadil brothers is a big blow to the ASG which lost its main sea navigators during kidnapping activities, Tan said. (NONOY LACSON)
