CAPAS, Tarlac – The shooters from the Philippine Army contingent bagged awards as the over-all champion in the recent AFP-PNP-PCG combat shooting Olympics 2016 held at the AARM Machine Gun range Grandstand of the Philippine Army’s Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) here.
TRADOC Commander Brig. Gen. Herminigildo Francisco C. Aquino said the Philippine Army team won in the over-all pistol and rifle championship matches, besting other competing shooters from the Philippine Navy (PN), Philippine Air Force (PAF), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and the Philippine National Police (PNP).
PAF came second followed by PN and PCG in the pistol championship match. It also placed second to the army contingent in the over-all rifle championship match. PCG came third and PN fourth.
Aquino congratulated the participants of the three-day combat shooting Olympics, stressing the event “brought out not only the competitive spirit among the shooters but also the camaraderie and esprit-de-corps” among the three uniformed services.
He reminded the team, however, to “temper victory with humility.”
Aquino said the Philippine Army shooters received rifle and pistol perpetual trophies, medals and plaque of recognitions for the job well done. The troops are expected to compete in the forthcoming 26th ASEAN Armies Rifle Meet (AARM) from November 21 to December 07, 2016 at Camp O’Donnel, Capas, Tarlac AARM ranges. (Franco G. Regala)
