5 p.m. – Petron vs F2 Logistics
7 p.m. – Generika vs RC Cola-Army
Former champion Petron aims for its second straight win when it clashes with F2 Logistics today in the 2016 Asics Philippine Superliga Grand Prix presented by PLDT Home Ultera at The Arena in San Juan City.
The Tri-Activ Spikers, boasting of the 2014 Grand Prix crown, battle the Cargo Movers at 5 p.m. in a bid to follow up their 25-18, 25-23, 25-14 opening-day victory over the Generika Lifesavers recently.
Despite the strength it displayed in their first win, Petron coach Shaq Delos Santos said they still needed to work on their chemistry.
Import Stephanie Niemer will continue to carry the offensive fight for Petron after scoring 15 kills for 18 points the last time, with skipper Ces Molina and veteran Aiza Pontillas forming the core of their starting six.
But the fancied F2 Logistics must not be taken lightly as it seeks to recover from a 25-18, 25-20, 25-15 loss to Foton also last Saturday.
Aby Maraño will remain a threat after finishing with 12 points in that match, but the former La Salle standout needs strong reinforcements as her other teammates like Cha Cruz, Mika Reyes and Kim Fajardo played below par.
F2 Logistics must also double its efforts as it still misses import Hayley Spelman, set to arrive tonight, and wing spiker Ara Galang, who is recuperating from a knee injury.
Meanwhile, powerhouse RC Cola-Army starts its title campaign at 7 p.m. against Generika.
RC Cola coach Kungfu Reyes will field its experienced lineup composed of Jovelyn Gonzaga, Royse Tubino, Tina Salak and Rachel Daquis, but added that age will be a factor for the team this conference.
“Other teams have young and agile players. But I’m still happy with the lineup that we have. I hope we remain healthy all throughout the conference,” said Reyes.
