Unbeaten Petron seeks to keep its record clean against dangerous RC Cola-Army today at the resumption of the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City.
Match is set at 7 p.m. with the Blaze Spikers hoping to nail their third straight victory in as many matches.
The tournament returns from a two-week break after giving way to the country’s hosting of the 2016 FIVB Women’s Club World Championships where the PSL-F2 Logistics Manila placed eighth and last against world-class teams.
Stephanie Niemer, Ces Molina, and libero Jen Reyes – part of the PSL-F2 squad that saw action in that top-notch tournament – are expected to carry what they learned from the club worlds to protect their immaculate run.
But RC Cola also boasts of PSL-F2 players Jovelyn Gonzaga and Rachel Anne Daquis to steer the squad as it aims for its second straight win.
The RC Cola Lady Troopers are also looking for a follow-up on their 25-17, 23-25, 25-15, 25-19 win over Generika last Oct. 11.
“I hope na madala namin itong experience na ito sa mga teams namin para lalo pa kaming mag-improve,” said Daquis after the club worlds.
Foton, likewise, gun for a second consecutive win in as many matches when it collides with winless Generika at 5 p.m., while Cignal starts its campaign in its 3 p.m. tussle with F2 Logistics.
Both Generika and F2 Logistics are at the bottom standings with 0-2 win-loss records. The Generika Lifesavers bowed to Petron and RC Cola, while the F2 Cargo Movers lost to Foton and Petron.
