Malacañang yesterday dispelled speculations that President Duterte is weak and sickly.
Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said Duterte is “stronger than a carabao” and assured the public that the President is healthy enough to fulfill his duties as seen by his hectic work schedule in recent weeks.
“Mas malakas pa sa kalabaw si Pangulo,” Andanar said over government radio.
Last Friday, the President hinted he was sick just like any other 72-year-old person in the country. “I’m 72-years-old. Do not ask me if I am sick. Every 72-years-old in this planet is sick. That would be a very silly question,” Duterte said before a group of lawyers at the historic landmark Manila Hotel.
The President commented about his personal health while complaining about the rigors of his job, such as long working hours.
Due to his paperwork and other official engagements, Duterte claimed that he starts his day after lunch and ends it in the wee hours of the next morning. (Genalyn D. Kabiling)
