CONTRADICTION – There seems to be a contradiction in the title of Star Cinema’s “The Unmarried Wife.” Yes, quite contrary. Isn’t a wife always married? But of course there’s a commom-law wife.
Well, the plot of “The Unmarried Wife” explains the confusing term.
The story is centered on Anne (Angelica Panganiban), afraid to love, so many inhibitions, due to a childhood traumatic experience. But then comes Geoff (Dingdong Dantes) who wipes away all her reservations about falling in love.
But their marital bliss turns out to be shortlived because of Geoff’s infidelity. Enter Bryan (Paulo Avelino) who heals all her emotional wounds, promising he’ll be the man she truly deserves.
Directed by Maryo J. de los Reyes and written by Vanessa Valdez, “The Unmarried Wife” tackles family and marital issues, including divorce, which the country doesn’t recognize… yet.

FAMILIAR WITH – Dingdong Dantes and Angelica Panganiban are quite familiar with each other onscreen, having co-starred in “Segunda Mano” and “One More Try,” also produced by Star Cinema.
They have no inhibitions or reservations where love scenes are concerned. Dingdong even drops his pants and briefs.
But Paulo Avelino shares stellar roles for the first time with Dingdong Dantes. Well, being a good actor, he easily blends with his co-stars. He’s also game where love and nude scenes are concerned.
All three are awardees, with Paulo winning the coveted Urian for “Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa.”

COMEBACK – “The Unmarried Wife” is the much-awaited comeback of direk Maryo to Star Cinema. His last assignment for the studio is “A Love Story” almost 10 years ago, also with Ms. Valdez as scriptwriter.
With Maryo at the helm, expect an excellent drama, laced with crisp, catchy, and highly relatable dialogues.
His credit includes such diverse titles as “Magnifico,” “Sa Ngalan ng Pag-ibig,” “Bagets,” “Diosa,” “Gabun,” “Saan Darating ang Umaga,” “High School Circa ’65.”
