BAYBAY CITY – This city’s vice Mayor Michael L. Cari vehemently denied the statement of Chief Inspector Leo Larraga linking him to suspected Eastern Visayas drug lord Rolan “Kerwin” Espinosa.
Cari faced the media and insisted that he never met Kerwin, son of Albuera town’s late mayor Rolando Espinosa, Sr.
“I vehemently deny the statement of Chief Inspector Larraga as one of the protectors of the Espinosa drug syndicate as I never met Kerwin and I only met the late Mayor Espinosa during the mass oath taking of all elected officials,” said Cari.
Cari said dragging him as one of the protectors of the Espinosa is politically motivated as the alleged pro bono lawyer of Albuera, Leyte Police Head Chief Inspector Jovie Espinosa is their political opponent, Malot Galenzoga.
Cari said they are now planning to take legal actions against the people behind the issue whom he said is being raised to affect his plan to run for mayor in the next local elections.
Meantime Cari’s mother and Baybay Mayor Carmen recently led the launching of the Mamamayan Ayaw Sa Anomalya at Mamamayan Ayaw sa Droga (MASA) (MASID) at the Baybay City gym yesterday.
The lady mayor said the event is a strong showing of their support to the anti-illegal drugs campaign of President Duterte and is one of the activities of the nationwide Drug Prevention and Control Week celebration.
Cari said the launching was attended by all barangay chairmen and barangay officials of the city as well as members of the city council and other stake holders.
Philppine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 8 Regional Director Alberto Jubay and Baybay City Police Chief Supt. Ramil Amodia expressed their appreciation to the launching of the new program of the Duterte administration to minimize the proliferation of the illegal drugs by encouraging the support and cooperation of all the sectors in the barangay level.(Nestor L.
