ACTRESS and radio host Jackie Aquino, daughter of former Senator Agapito “Butz” Aquino and cousin of actress-TV host Kris Aquino, has said that the burial of former President Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng nga Bayani in Taguig City is a form of disrespect to the Filipinos.
“I’m totally against it. It’s disrespect to the Filipino people,” said Aquino, when asked for comment about the surprise burial of Mr. Marcos in Taguig City last Nov. 18.
“I thought everybody knew what happened during the EDSA Revolution and now suddenly it was brazen exactly what our Vice President said like a thief in the night,” she added.
Aquino made the comments at the sidelines of the Aesthetics and Cosmetics by Escalava press conference which launched two of the newest Brazilian Hair Care technologies in the country – Argilia Amazonia and Hair Toxx – which are guaranteed organic and all-natural and zero formaldehyde, held at the Crowne Plaza Galleria in Ortigas.
She added: “They robbed us of our money, of our freedom and then now this again. Parang pambabastos, I felt betrayed.
Parang sinampal. Masakit na ’yung decision ng Supreme Court tapos ito nilagyan pa ng kung ano ’yung sugat.
“It’s not about moving on and forgiveness. Yes, we may forgive but we will not forget. Justice has to be served. Kung ano man ang nakuha nila, ibalik nila.”
“This is not a fight against the Marcoses and the Aquinos but the fight of the Marcoses against the Filipino people and our country. We are victims, yes, my family and the other families are victims. Nakalimutan na ba nila?’’ Aquino asked.
But Aquino said that she was happy to see the millennials who took part at the EDSA People Power Monument rally in Quezon City to protest the surprise burial of the late President at the LNMB.
In 1986, it would be recalled that a peaceful revolution toppled the government of former President Marcos and swept the late President Corazon Aquino into power.
She also expressed support to the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte.
“I’m looking forward to change. Maybe it’s only the fifth month but I’m positive. I hope that all the decisions he will make now will be for the good of our country,” she added.
Aquino said that she is busy these days with her hour-long radio program with Rep. Erin Tanada on UNTV Radio called “Tinig ng Pilipino” which tackles present issues.
“Hindi naman ako nawala sa showbiz. Hindi lang kasi ako ma-tsismis,” she said.
Aquino is also shooting “Isang Araw Lang Part 3” and “Across the Crescent Moon” which both tackle the issue of human trafficking.
