BETTER late than never.
Just two days after the finals of the Miss Globe 2016 beauty contest in Tirana, Albania, Miss Philippines Nichole Manalo was proclaimed 3rd runner-up in the same international pageant where it was previously reported that she only finished in the Top 10.
Miss South Africa Natasha Joubert was named 4th runner-up but she already left Albania when the special announcement was made through live Facebook streaming last Monday.
Manalo, a registered nurse and younger sister of actress Bianca Manalo, received a crown and certificates from organizers of the pageant. She also won Dream Girl of the World special award during the finals.
Miss Globe organizers said that the pageant host forgot to announce the names of the two runners-up – Philippines and South Africa – during the finals last Saturday night, in another contest error that shocked and surprised pageant fans around the world.
India’s Dimple Patel was crowned Miss Globe 2016. First runner-up honors went to Miss Colombia Yenny Carillo while 2nd runner-up, to Miss Albania Katrina Skurra. Last year, Miss Philippines Ann Colis won Miss Globe.
Prior to her 3rd runner-up finish, Manalo said that it has always been her dream to become a beauty queen and to give honor to the Philippines.
“It has always been my dream. But not only to become a beauty queen, but to stand on a worldstage wherein I can give honor and pride to my country, the Philippines,” said Manalo on Instagram.
“Months ago, I put aside my profession. Yes, I am a public servant. I am a nurse. And ever since, it’s my passion to give my time and service to others, especially to those who are sick. Because I know in that way… I am a blessing to other people. For me, that’s living life to the fullest.
“I may not be wearing my white uniform as a nurse. But believe me when I say that there is this fire within me still wanting to save other people’s lives, but this time as a beauty queen who has the heart to inspire. To all those who have helped me, thank you! I’ll be forever grateful. Thank you for believing in me,” added Manalo.
