8 p.m. – Alab Pilipinas vs Kaohsiung
Alab Pilipinas seeks another repeat win over the retooled Kaohsiung Truth tonight in the resumption of the ASEAN Basketball League at the Olivarez Sports Center in Parañaque City.
The Bobby Ray Parks-led Alab is favored to beat the Taiwanese side in their 8 p.m. contest but expect a much-difficult duel than in last week’s 91-82 victory in Baliwag, Bulacan.
That’s because Kaohsiung reinforced its squad by signing Raymar Jose and Achie Inigo to one-game contracts in the hope of avenging its defeat to Alab last week.
Jose had recently completed his UAAP career with Far Eastern University, and was named to the league’s Mythical Five last Wednesday.
On the other hand, Iñigo, a former teammate of Jose at FEU, last saw action in the PBA D-League for Phoenix, which won both the Aspirants and Foundation Cup titles this year.
Their additions came after signing former University of the Philippines guard Mikee Reyes to a one-game contract.
Reyes scored 14 points but the Truth decided not to retain his services.
Out to spoil Kaohsiung’s quest to barge into the win column after a 0-3 start is Parks, who was named the ABL’s Player of the Week after firing 30 points in the first meeting of the two squads.
Parks got solid support from Fil-American Lawrence Domingo, who added 21 points, four rebounds and three assists as Alab aims to increase its form after opening the season with a 71-66 loss to the Singapore Slingers.
But Alab coach Mac Cuan would like to see more production from Korean brothers Lee Seung Jun and Lee Dong Jun. The Alab’s two World imports combined for just 16 points.
