Two unidentified men were killed in a shootout with policemen shortly after they held up two women in Las Piñas City early yesterday morning.
Senior Supt. Jemar Modequillo, Las Piñas police chief, said the incident happened at about 2 a.m. in front of a KTV bar on Alabang-Zapote Road in Barangay Talon Dos.
Modequillo said that prior to the shootout, Zaira Aspera and Joy Musa Bansao, both residents of Pasay City, were waiting for jeepney ride going to Alabang when the suspects approached them, announced the holdup and grabbed their shoulder bags containing personal belongings and cash.
Modequillo said the victims immediately sought assistance from standby patrol cops at a nearby gasoline station.
During a follow-up operation by Las Pinas police, Modequillo said the victims positively identified the two suspects who were walking casually in front of a KTV bar.
Modequillo said the suspects, when accosted, fired shots at the cops, prompting the lawmen to fire back. The duo died on site.
The city police chief said police recovered from the slain suspects two .38-caliber revolvers loaded with live and fired bullets, one brown shoulder bag containing a makeup kit and R1,200 cash owned by one of the victims. A Marlboro red pack containing shabu was found inside the pocket of one of the suspects. (Jean Fernando)
