Jeron Teng will officially suit up for AMA Online Education in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup next month after agreeing to a one-conference contract on Christmas Eve.
The former La Salle star came to terms after he and his family led by father and former PBA cager Alvin Teng and mother Susan met with Titans coach Mark Herrera to finalize the deal.
Teng is making his debut in the D-League, a tournament that amateur cagers with no national team experience are required to join before being eligible to apply for the PBA draft.
AMA got the rights to select Teng after finishing with the worst record among returning teams that played in both conferences last season.
His addition has boosted AMA’s chances of making the playoffs for the first time since joining the D-League in 2014.
The Titans have also added University of the Philippines guard Diego Dario while re-signing veteran center JR Taganas to strengthen their roster for the Aspirants’ Cup which opens on Jan. 19.
Other teams that will compete in the tourney are CaféFrance, Tanduay, Racal, Wang’s Basketball, Cignal-San Beda, Jose Rizal University, Batangas, Victoria Sports-MLQU and guest team Blustar-Malaysia.
