Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre hopes that the government will rake in almost an 11-figure earnings this year from small town lottery (STL) operations by imposing a quota in remittances to the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).
Aguirre, a member of the task force to run after erring STL operators, said that STL operators will have to meet a quota of remittances to the PCSO through Presumptive Monthly Retail Receipts (PMMR).
“Ang ginawa namin diyan nilagyan namin ng minimum, yung tinatawag na PMRR, presumably ‘yun ‘yung quota na dapat i-remit ng isang operator sa PCSO every month,” explained Aguirre.
The secretary cited that since the PMMR was imposed, the government received P4.7 billion in remittance from STL operations.
“Pag ‘yan na ’yung projected sales nila, itong sa darating na year 2017, beginning February 1, ang kuwan nila diyan madodoble ‘yan,” he pointed out.
On the other hand, Aguire indicated that the imposition of the quota will depend on how much an STL operation earns. (JD)
