The tail-end of a cold front that has been looming over the country for days is now affecting the eastern sections of Southern Luzon and Visayas, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration said Saturday.
Based on its 24-hour public weather forecast, PAGASA said Bicol, Caraga, Central Visayas, and Eastern Visayas will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms.
The northeast monsoon or “amihan” will keep bringing cloudy skies with light rains over the islands of Batanes and Calayan.
Weather forecaster Obet Badrina said the same weather system is the reason behind the cold temperature currently being felt in Northern and Central Luzon.
Weather outlook in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon remains generally fair, according to PAGASA, with only some isolated light rains under partly cloudy to cloudy skies. Forecast is almost the same for the rest of Visayas and Mindanao.
Badrina said that a gale warning is still raised over the northern seaboard of Northern Luzon, covering Batanes, Calayan, Babuyan, Ilocos Norte, and the northern coast of Cagayan due to the amihan.
Also affected are the eastern and southern seaboards of Southern Luzon, including Catanduanes, the eastern coasts of Albay and Sorsogon, southern coast of Mindoro, and northern coast of Palawan.
Fishing boats and other small vessels are advised not to venture out into the rough seas while those aboard ships are alerted against big waves. (Aytch dela Cruz)
