A member of the Manila City Security Force was arrested after allegedly gunning down a Badjao man in Sampaloc, Manila, shortly after midnight yesterday.
Police probers were able to establish the identity of the suspect, Renato Ramos, 43, through the cellular phone and identification card he dropped as he was escaping.
Investigation showed that victim Jimmy Said, 40, and younger brother Jess were showing the cellphone they were selling to a truck driver on Lacson Avenue near EspaƱa Boulevard when Ramos, on board a black Yamaha motorcycle, shot Jimmy in the right temple.
The Saids are natives of Angeles, Pampanga, and arrived in Manila a week ago, according to police report.
Ramos also allegedly shot Jess but missed hitting him.
As the suspect was escaping, he dropped his cellphone and identification card, leading to his arrest.
Ramos refused to give a statement on the incident. He is now under the custody of the Manila Police District homicide section. (Jaimie Rose R. Aberia)
