Search and rescue operation is still on in an effort to locate six fishermen who went missing in Sulu last Tuesday, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said yesterday.
According to Coast Guard Station (CGS) Sulu the six missing fishermen were onboard an unregistered motor banca in Sulu last Jan. 24.
They were identified as Alim Najar, 46, of Jolo, Sulu; Samad Hayundini, 42, of Busbus, Jolo, Sulu; Munamir Hassan, 38 yrs old, resident of Busbus, Jolo, Sulu; Midzfar Sajirin, 50, of Pangasinan, Bangas Jolo, Sulu; Medzfar Sajirin, 28, of Busbus, Jolo, Sulu; and Omang Ahas, 53, of Pangasinan Bangas, Jolo, Sulu.
Investigation revealed the six fishermen were onboard a motor banca which left Tanjung Pisuk en route to Laparan Island in Jolo, Sulu to conduct fishing venture.they however failed to return home on the expected date.
Search operations have been launched since then.
CGS Sulu advised all watercrafts transiting in the area to be on the lookout for the six missing fishermen, render necessary assistance and to report to the nearest Coast Guard station if seen. (Betheena Kae Unite)
