Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald M. dela Rosa has tapped the elite PNP Special Action Force to go after police scalawags.
Dela Rosa’s order came just six months after the SAF was also tapped to help the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in securing the New Bilibid Prisons in Muntinlupa City.
During an ambush interview in Camp Crame, Dela Rosa said that at least 70 members of the SAF will be assigned to the newly-created Counter Intelligence Task Force whose main objective is to check or account all policemen involved in illegal activities but since been reinstated in the PNP.
Senior Supt. Jose Chiquito Malayo, who has been tapped to head the CITF, earlier said that they are currently in the process of selecting the personnel who will become part of his unit. Malayo said they were initially given 100 persons who will compose the CITF.
Meanwhile, Dela Rosa has ordered the reassignment of seven members of the Angeles City Police Office linked to the alleged kidnapping and robbrey of three South Koreans last December to Camp Crame in Quezon City and subsequently placed them under restrictive custody.
PNP spokesman Senior Supt. Dionardo Carlos said they have reported to the Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit of the Headquarters Support Service in Camp Crame upon their relief from the Police Regional Office 3.
