A Social Weather Stations survey has found out that Filipinos believe they can fall in love with more than one person at the same time.
The survey conducted from December 3 to 6 last year and released Thursday in time for Valentine’s Day on Tuesday found out that 44 percent of the 1,500 respondents believed it is possible while 43 percent said otherwise.
“In your opinion, is it possible to fall in love with more than one person at the same time?” was the survey question.
Twenty five percent of the respondents said falling in love with more than one person simultaneously is “definitely possible” while 19 percent said it is “somewhat possible.” On the other hand, 37 percent said it is “definitely impossible” and six percent said it is “somewhat impossible.”
Twelve percent were undecided.
The numbers translated to a net possibility score (percentage of those who said it is possible minus percentage impossible) of +1 that the SWS classified as “neutral.”
The survey also found out that only 19 percent or one in five respondents said they experienced falling in love with more than one person at the same time. A big majority, 81 percent said, they had not.
The SWS said the possibility of falling in love with more than one person at the same time was higher among men with a moderate +11 (49 percent possible, 38 percent impossible) compared to the neutral -8 (40 percent possible, 48 percent impossible) among women. (Vanne Elaine P. Terrazola)
