In a few days, Senator Leila de Lima said she would file charges against Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II for the “many sins he has committed.”
“Yes, my legal team is working on it. We are filing our own complaint against Secretary Aguirre with the Office of the Ombudsman. Marami na po ang kasalanan niya,” De Lima said in an interview.
De Lima, a staunch critic of President Duterte, said one of the many things Aguirre has to account is the departure of retired police general Wenceslao “Wally” Sombero from the country.
Sombero is one of the key witnesses invited by the Senate blue ribbon committee to shed light on the alleged P50-million bribery scandal involving officials of the Bureau of Immigration as well as Chinese businessman Jack Lam.
“We are looking already to the possible culpability and involvement of Secretary Aguirre himself. There’s a lot of questions he has to answer like why he met Lam in a private hotel,” she said.
De Lima said one of the problems Aguirre is facing is his propensity to immediately believe in so-called unprocessed information or rumors. (Hannah L. Torregoza)
