LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The weather up North continues to drop at a record pace after Atok, Benguet recorded sub-zero temperature.
The weather pattern in and around Benguet has caused frost particularly in Atok with the temperature going down to as low as negative three degrees Celsius Thursday.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration said the cool northeast wind “amihan” caused not only chilly climate but also some vegetable-producing towns in the province to experience frost locally termed as “andap.”
Atok Mayor Peter Alos and Mankayan Mayor Materno Luspian clarified that the reported occurrence of frost in their municipalities has no effect on the supply and prices of vegetables despite its continued impinge on grasslands, water system, and farmlands which are being readied for cultivation, and some vegetable plantation areas.
Luspian also reported that the effect of the frost in his town was low as farmers are quick to save their crops from damages. (PIA)
