URBIZTONDO, Pangasinan – It was a scene fit for a tearjerker movie but the moment was without a script where accused Ronnie Dayan hugged his son moments before he was arrested for drug charges.
Father and son Ronnie and Paul cried as the elder Dayan was about to be transported to Manila to face criminal charges that is related to that of what senator Leila de Lima is set to face.
Urbiztondo parish priest Fr. Antonio Rey Quintans said Dayan’s main concern at the moment is the safety and the future of his family.
“Ipinagdasal po namin ang kaniyang kaligtasan at higit sa lahat ang maging matatag ito sa hinaharap na suliranin,” said Quintans.
Chief Inspector Joshua Maximo, Urbiztondo police chief said the Philippine National Police served the warrant of arrest after it was emailed to their station.
Maximo said Dayan did not resist arrest after the warrant was served. In fact, the former De Lima aide was prepared to submit himself to the authorities when they arrived in his house.
Dayan was arrested for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 under criminal case number 17-165 issued by Presiding Judge Juanita Guerero of Regional Trial Court Judicial Region Branch 204, Muntinlupa City, dated February 23,2017. No bail bond was recommended. (LIEZLE BASA IÑIGO)
