Ronnie Dayan, the former driver and boyfriend of Sen. Leila M. de Lima, is doing fine in his detention cell at the new Muntinlupa City police headquarters in Barangay Tunasan.
He spent his first night Friday in a holding cell at the police headquarters which was inaugurated last January.
Dayan was ordered by the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Branch 204 detained at the detention facility following the issuance of warrants of arrest on February 24 against him, De Lima, and former Bureau of Corrections officer-in-charge Rafael Ragos for the non-bailable offense of illegal drugs trading.
The three are facing the charges under Case 17-165 at the RTC Branch 204 for violation of Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Senior Supt. Nicolas Salvador, Muntinlupa police chief, said that Dayan’s health is okay and he is not suffering from any sickness or medical condition. Dayan’s wife brought him food last night, he added.
There is no budget provision for meals of inmates and family members will have to bring them food.
Dayan is the only inmate at his detention cell and there is no plan to transfer him to another cell with other inmates, Salvador said. There are 47 inmates, including Dayan, who are currently jailed at the new police headquarters.
Salvador said just like other inmates, Dayan can be visited daily during assigned hours.
Security has been tightened at the Muntinlupa police headquarters with the addition of two-man tactical teams that are on duty round-the-clock.
De Lima is jailed at the PNP Custodial Service Unit in Camp Crame while Ragos has not surrendered to authorities as of press time. (JONATHAN M. HICAP)
