Don’t mess with the fierce daughter of President Duterte.
Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio is “sarcastic” and “maldita” who will not back down from any fight, according to the President.
Duterte made the comments after the mayor hit back at Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines President Archbishop Socrates Villegas for criticizing the President during the EDSA People Power commemoration.
“Here is Soc Villegas, having an issue with Inday Sara now as seen on Facebook. Inday is very sarcastic. Grabe si Inday ka-sarcastic. She is very maldita,” Duterte said in a recent speech in Davao.
“Good luck when you would pick a fight with her. She is like me. She inherited my mindset paradigm,” the tough talking former mayor of Davao City added.
The mayor earlier said Villegas is “truly, madly, deeply worse than a hundred President Dutertes” after the bishop claimed the President single handedly defaced the memory of EDSA.
She said Villegas’ group was a “bunch of delusional hypocrites,” the elite who think they are better than everyone else. She said EDSA revolution meant living free from selective moral standards perpetuated by Villegas and his friends.
“While all of you were up there riding high on your horses, you failed to notice that many of us down here empathize with what Rodrigo Duterte is saying because it is the hard truth. It is truly without the air of hypocrisy that we smell from your kind,” she said.
Villegas, in a letter to the late Jaime Cardinal Sin, has denounced the “rape” of the EDSA revolution, citing the killings of the poor under the present government and the political comeback of the Marcoses.
Duterte, in his message during the EDSA commemorative rites, said he hopes EDSA would continue to inspire heroism among Filipinos. He said no single group could claim credit for the EDSA revolt and claim monopoly of patriotism.
“Indeed the spirit of EDSA does not belong to one sector or one group of people but to all Filipinos who believe in freedom and a democratic way of life,” he said. (Genalyn D. Kabiling)
