BUTUAN CITY – A barangay chairman in Butuan City was gunned down before horrified family members at Purok 5, Barangay Mahay Saturday morning.
The victim was identified as Antenor Nalus Villamor, 44, a barangay captain of Mahay, in Butuan City.
Villamor sustained gunshot wounds on his right breast, chin and right arm, believed from a .45 caliber pistol.
He was immediately brought to Elisa Ochoa Memorial Hospital here for medical treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.
In their initial report submitted to Chief Supt. Rolando B. Felix, regional director of Northeastern Mindanao Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13), the Butuan City Police Office (BCPO), the unidentified suspect went to the residence of Villamor supposedly to ask for assistance.
As Villamor was approaching the door, the suspect immediately pulled out his gun and fired several shots at the victim.
The suspect immediately escaped using his black motorcycle without plate number.
Police regional director Chief Supt. Rolando B. Felix said a city-wide manhunt operation is now being conducted.
Reports have it that Villamor was also a surrenderee of the police anti-illegal drug program ‘Oplan Tokhang.’
