Malaysia, host of the 29th Southeast Asian Games, is ready to roll the red carpet for its hosting of the biennial sportsfest, chief of mission Cynthia Carrion said yesterday.
“They’re ready,” said Carrion, fresh from attending the CDM in Kuala Lumpur, site of the Aug. 19-31 event.
With the host pulling all the stops in its hosting, Carrion feels that the Philippines should put its best foot forward when competition starts in about six months.
“We have to push our athletes,” said Carrion, head of the gymnastics association.
To help the athletes reach peak form, Carrion said all the national sports associations involved will meet with the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) next week to set the stage for their respective buildups.
PSC chairman William ‘Butch’ Ramirez is offering China as site where the athletes can hone their skills.
In fact, Ramirez is currently in China to renew the country’s previous partnership.
