The vehicle used by the man who shot dead an IT professional in a road rage incident in Quezon City Saturday was turned over to the police Tuesday afternoon.
The Toyota Land Cruiser plated AHA-3458 was surrendered to the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) around 4:40 p.m., it was learned yesterday.
According to CIDU chief Supt. Rodelio Marcelo, the vehicle was brought to Camp Karingal by a certain Alfamil Yap, a friend of suspect Fredison Atienza.
The report said the Land Cruiser was turned over to the police upon the advice of Atienza’s legal counsel Mark Petriarca as part of their commitment to cooperate with investigators.
The vehicle was caught on CCTV footages prior to the shooting incident. It was registered to Atienza’s daughter who told authorities that his father had been using the car.
Marcelo refused to disclose further details, saying Yap “only picked up the car somewhere in Bulacan.”
Atienza was earlier named by the QCPD as the gunman who killed 27-year-old Anthony Mendoza during a heated altercation at the intersection of D. Tuazon and Quezon Avenues Saturday afternoon. (Vanne Elaine P. Terrazola)
