Supt. Hansel Marantan and the 10 other accused in the 2013 rubout incident in Atimonan, Quezon has been freed from the Philippine National Police Custodial Center in Quezon City after they were granted bail by a Manila Regional Trial Court.
Senior Supt. Dionardo Carlos, spokesperson of the PNP, said Marantan and Chief Insp. Grant Gollod, Senior Insp. John Paolo Carracedo, Senior Insp. Timoteo Orig, SPO3 Joselito de Guzman, SPO1 Carlos Cataquiz, SPO1 Arturo Sarmiento, PO3 Eduardo Oronan, PO2 Nelson Indal, PO1 Wryan Sardea, and PO1 Rodel Talento, were freed at about 9 p.m. Thursday after posting R300,000 bail each.
“Originally, there were 13 accused, but Supt. Ramon Balauag was discharged as state witness while PO2 Al Bhazar Jailani remained at large from Day One,” Carlos said.
The police officers are facing multiple murder charges in connection with the shooting incident on January 6, 2013 that left 13 people dead, including suspected “jueteng” lord Vic Siman.
They were released several days after the Manila RTC Branch 34 granted the petitions for bail of the accused. (Francis T. Wakefield)
