The government launched last week the “Type ng Bayan”, a free blood-typing program that will help Filipinos get much-needed blood donations from outside their family circles.
The Duterte Cabinet Spouses Association (DCSA) together with the Metro Manila Mayors Spouses Foundation (MMMSF), Department of Health (DoH), Department of Interior Local Government (DILG) led the launching of the program in Parañaque City.
Mrs. Janet Olivarez, wife of Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez, said program aims to assist the marginalized sector of the society to know their blood types, which is very important in addressing medical issues like blood donation and transfusion.
“Knowing your own blood type can save lives,” Mrs. Olivarez said.
Under the Office of the President, the DCSA will turn over the project to the MMMSF.
The local government units are tasked to deliver the testing kits to different barangays for implementation of the program.
