J.R. Smith of the Cleveland Cavaliers is currently out of action, undergoing rehab for a broken right thumb. Regardless, the Cavs guard has been seen on the Cavs bench in street clothes.
He was around when the Cavs visited the Miami Heat. Cleveland got trashed by the Heat but there was a heated moment in the fourth quarter.
Smith seemed to have taken exception on Miami Heat player Rodney McGruder. The 25-year-old guard scored on a putback dunk over the Cavs Channing Frye with only about a minute left in the game. McGruder celebrated which included a push to the lower back of the veteran Frye.
It was after that when Smith started jawing with McGruder. Security personnel calmed Smith down but things got heated once again when the final buzzer sounded. Former Cavs guard Dion Waiters yelled and pointed towards Smith’s way with Tristan Thompson trying to reason with his former teammate, ESPN reported.
Players from both sides brushed aside the incident, claiming it was nothing more than a heated moment. Both teams meet again with the Heat now visiting the Cavs at the Quicken Loans Arena Monday. Check out a video of the incident below.
