(Panaad Stadium, Bacolod City)
7:30 p.m. – Ceres vs Tampines
Global shoots for its second straight victory while Ceres-Negros makes its home debut against a familiar foe when they resume their respective campaigns tonight in the AFC Cup.
Global takes on Cambodian side Beoungket Angkor in a 7 p.m. PH time match at the National Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh before Ceres meets Singaporean outlet Tampines Rovers 30 minutes later at the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City.
Both Philippine clubs are looking to secure the full three points in their groups as they solidify their bids to make the last 16 after matchday two of Asia’s second-tier competition.
A lone goal by Misagh Bahadoran gave Global a 1-0 victory over Myanmar’s Magwe at the Rizal Memorial Stadium two weeks ago at the Rizal Memorial Stadium for the early lead with Malaysian powerhouse Johor Darul Ta’zim in Group F.
Also two weeks ago, Ceres nearly scored an upset victory over fancied Vietnamese club Hanoi with an early second half goal by Bienvenido Maranon before settling for a 1-all draw in their Group G match at the My Dinh Stadium.
Ceres is in second place in the group behind Tampines, which holds the lead with three points. The two sides have been familiar with each other, having met multiple times in this competition and the Singapore Cup.
Bahadoran once again leads Global’s attack, with midfielders Matthew Hartmann, Paul Mulders, Dennis Villanueva providing the offensive support and defenders Jerry Barbaso and Amani Aguinaldo providing help at the back.
Meanwhile, Negrenses will get to witness their souped up roster for the first time led by Azkals mainstays Manny Ott, Iain Ramsay, Martin Steuble and Roland Muller.
