Alyssa Valdez expressed her excitement to once again represent the country in the Southeast Asian Games (SEAG) following the announcement of the 24-member women’s volleyball pool yesterday.
“I’m blessed to be selected to the national team again. It’s always been an honor to represent the country and I hope to make the final cut,” said Valdez, who is currently playing in a local club team in Thailand.
“I’m so thankful to be part of this team, alongside the experienced, skilled, talented and hardworking players,” she added.
Valdez, a former UAAP MVP from Ateneo, flew all the way from Thailand to participate in the Davao tryouts conducted by the Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas Inc. last month.
LVPI officials, however, said that Valdez is already a shoo-in in the training pool following her achievements and continuous impressive performance.
Valdez is also part of the team that finished fifth in the 2015 Singapore SEAG edition.
This year’s edition will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in August.
