A Chinese national was shot dead Tuesday night while trying to drive away from two vehicles that sideswiped his sports utility vehicle in Parañaque City.
Ben Chua, 42, of Dasmariñas St., Binondo, Manila, died on the spot from multiple gunshot wounds mostly on the chest area.
SPO1 Walter Dulawan, case investigator, said Chua was onboard a silver Toyota RAV-8 (XRK-301) and traversing south-bound along Pacific Avenue in Barangay Don Galo at 9:08 p.m. when he was sideswiped by a Toyota Innova and a white van with no plate numbers.
Lady guard Len-len Miralo, 34, said she witnessed the suspects’ vehicles jostling Chua’s SUV until they reached near Okada power supply, a few meters from her post along Pacific Avenue.
“Habang nagkakagitgitan sila, nakarinig ng sunud-sunod na putok yung witness tapos nawalan ng preno ‘yung biktima saka sumampa sa gutter,” said Chief Inspector Allan Abaquita, head of Parañaque police investigating unit.
The suspects then sped off towards Macapagal Avenue to Coastal Area.
“Ambush ba o road rage? Sa ngayon nag-iimbestiga pa tayo eh. Wala rin kasing CCTV sa area at yung lady guard lang yung nakakita,” Abaquita said.
Scene of the Crime Operatives (SoCO) said the windshield on the part of the driver’s seat bore multiple bullet holes.
“Kalat kalat ‘yung tama sa windshield parang aakalain mo na inubos yung isang magazine eh,” Abaquita said.
SOCO found four fired cartridge cases and three spent shells from a caliber .45 gun inside Chua’s vehicle.
A sachet of suspect shabu was also discovered inside the right secret pocket of Chua’s pants along with his driver’s license, phone cards, an ATM debit card named to one Marjorie Redoble, an I-phone, and other documents.
Abaquita said they were conducting background check on the profile of the victim.
The victim’s body was brought to People’s Funeral Homes in Las Piñas City for autopsy and safekeeping.
