It will be almost 10 years since the fabled 2008 NBA title conquest of the Boston Celtics and Rajon Rondo is planning to hold a reunion. Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce will be invited but not Ray Allen.
To be clear, the decision was not by Rondo alone. It was more of a majority decision when most of the members of the 2008 Boston Celtics reportedly said no or a no head shake according to Rondo via The Undefeated.
Allen left the Celtics in 2012 to join the Miami Heat. Apparently, it was a move that didn’t sit well with the other Celtics at that time. Rondo pointed out the rivalry between the two franchises, calling it not the greatest of separations. In short, it was a question of loyalty.
With consideration to time, all that should have healed by now. All of them eventually left the Celtics though Rondo and Allen reportedly had trouble getting along.
Allen’s departure to the Miami Heat is a career-move so the rift could be more of a miscommunication between him and the rest of the 2008 Boston Celtics championship squad. Time heals all wounds but this issue may need more time to forget.
