An alleged drug peddler tagged as one of the suspects in the gun-slaying of a policewoman was killed Monday night when he resisted arrest during a drug sting in Tondo, Manila.
Police identified the fatality as a certain Daniel “Jokoy” Batac, one of the alleged gunmen who killed PO1 Jorsan Alafriz, a member of the Manila Police District (MPD), on the night of March 19.
Investigation showed that prior to the shootout, Batac sold P500 worth of suspected shabu to an undercover policeman of MPD Station- 2 inside his house on Mayhaligue Street in Tondo, around 10:35 p.m.
While being arrested, Batac reportedly drew a gun, prompting the cops to shoot him.
He succumbed to his wounds at Metropolitan Hospital at around 11:10 p.m.
Police recovered from the crime scene seven sachets of suspected shabu, the marked money used in the entrapment, and Batac’s loaded 9mm pistol.
Police said they are still verifying information that Batac was one of the gunmen in Alafriz’s killing.
“Ayan yung isa sa suspect namin sa pagpatay kay Jorsan Alafriz. Madami sila eh,” said MPD homicide section chief Senior Inspector Fernildo de Castro.
