The police colonel caught having a shabu session with a woman in Las Piñas City on Thursday was found positive for drug use, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reported yesterday.
Chief Supt. Aurelio Trampe, director of the PNP Crime Laboratory, said initial result of the drug test conducted on Supt. Lito Dumandan Cabamongan, former chief of the PNP Crime Laboratory Service-Alabang Satellite Office in Muntinlupa City, would still be subjected to a confirmatory test.
He said if found positive, Cabamogan would be charged with grave misconduct which could lead to his dismissal from police service.
“The results of the confirmatory test will be the basis of any legal action that will be done on Cabamongan,” Trampe said.
Cabamongan immediately underwent drug testing after Las Piñas police operatives caught him in the act of sniffing shabu together with one Nedy Sabado, 44, in a shanty at Everlasting Homes, Barangay Talon 4 at 5:30 a.m., Thursday.
Cabamongan and Sabdao were brought to Las Piñas City Police Station along with the confiscated pieces of evidence.
Administrative and criminal charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 Section 12 (Possession of Equipment, Instrument, Apparatus and Other Paraphernalia for Dangerous Drugs) and Section 15 (Use of Dangerous Drugs) will be filed against him and Sabdao. (FRANCIS T. WAKEFIELD)
