No less than President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the head of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) to implement four traffic reducing measures to ease congestion in the metropolis.
They are clearing of secondary roads of illegally parked vehicles, formulation of staggered working hours for government workers, opening Roxas Boulevard service road to traffic and revive nighttime commerce by allowing delivery trucks to traverse Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) at night.
MMDA officer-in-charge Tim Orbos said he received the directives during last Monday’s 14th Cabinet meeting held in Malacañang.
“President Duterte said traffic problems have greatly affect the country’s economy and people are waking up early to beat traffic in going to work,” said Orbos.
