Police arrested at least 20 men during simultaneous raids on three suspected cybersex dens in Quezon City, at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Members of Quezon City Police District’s Special Operations Unit (DSOU) swooped down on three hotbeds for online pornography which operate under the guise of a business process outsourcing company called Kanluran Contact Solution and Associates, Inc.
The alleged cybersex dens are owned by a certain Mark Pudoy alias Kram and a certain Paul James Malapitan, according to police.
Pudoy and Malapitan, police said, hire chat sales agents or operators who post explicit sex materials for online webcam models who chat with clients.
Police said they cater to foreigners and charge them with $150 to register and subscribe. Additional payments are asked when viewing pornographic pictures and videos.
A report from an informant led DSOU operatives to probe Pudoy’s activities. They later secured a search warrant from Judge Arthur Malabaguio of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 93 against Pudoy and his cohorts.
Pudoy was arrested along with 11 of his employees, who called themselves chat operators, in one of the company’s addresses on Ilocos Sur St., Brgy Sto. Cristo.
Police said they caught the suspects in the act of sending pornographic materials to their clients.
The raiders seized and dismantled 15 computer units found inside the office.
Another DSOU team proceeded to a commercial building on West Avenue in Barangay Nayong Kanluran, where they arrested 10 male chat operators and seized 22 computer units.
Lawmen also discovered 32 computers in their third branch in a condominium on Timog Avenue, Diliman. The office, however, was closed during the operation and no one was arrested.
Pudoy and his staff did not resist arrest and were brought to QCPD headquarters in Camp Karingal.
Charges for violating Republic Act 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 will be filed against the suspects. (Vanne Elaine P. Terrazola)
