Two persons died while 17 others were injured in a vehicular accident on the national highway in Barangay San Antonio, San Mateo, Isabela yesterday.
A Bombo Radyo report identified the fatalities as Veronica Salvador, 10, and Aldrin Gutierrez, 46, both residents of San Mateo, Rizal.
Investigation disclosed that the victims were on their way to Roxas, Isabela on board a Nissan Urvan to attend a wedding when the accident occurred at around 2 a.m.
Police said the driver, Eduardo Villaflor, 56, of Pulang Lupa, Modesta Village, San Mateo, Rizal lost control of the vehicle after its right tie rod detached.
It slammed into a utility pole and stopped in a canal beside the road.
Villaflor and the other victims sustained injuries and were taken to a hospital where two of them died.
